Hello all and welcome to the future! 10 years ago, who would have thought that we’d live in a world where augmented reality exists. Are we honestly surprised though? With the way technology is changing and growing every day, I’m amazed we’re not time travelling. Before I get into how augmented reality is truly altering the way we live our lives, I should explain what it even is. Augmented reality, or AR, is a combination of both computer-generated elements and the ability to create an augmented world. With AR, users can interact with computer generated objects and overlays while they move freely around the real world. Why is this so cool you ask? Let me paint you a picture. You’re getting married and you chose an amazing venue but you’re unsure of how all the elements are going to look together. With AR, you are able to view your venue virtually and place computer generated tables, chairs, and anything else you’d wish to include before the actual event. This can help eliminate a multitude of obstacles when it comes to event planning. AR is not limited to only events though, it can be used in fields such as interior design, construction, trade shows, and real estate. This new technology can replace large venues which ultimately drives down costs. Giving people the opportunity to see and experience something, such as a totally renovated room before it is a reality can help not only the client but also the designer. AR allows full control while remaining extremely simplistic in its design. Augmented reality is not limited to only tech-savvy people. It has opened up a whole new world that is accessible to everyone alike. Now excuse me, I’m going to play Pokémon Go…
